• Other Activities
o Organized a high-­‐level forum on Sustainability Policy and Practice: Promoting a
Sustainable Supply Chain with the Columbia Global Center East Asia and the
Sustainability Consortium.
o Organized theme forum on sustainability metrics at CCIEE’s 4 th Global Think
Tank Summit, attended by high-­‐level national and regional government officials,
and top academics in Beijing.
o Organized, hosted a theme forum on sustainability management and
measurement, and moderated a panel on multi-­‐stakeholder engagement for
sustainability at Eco-­‐Forum Global 2015 in Guiyang, China, attended by
ministers from National Statistics Bureau and the Ministry of Environmental
Protection, regional government officials, and top academics.
o Led background research on corporate and city level sustainability indicator
and framework research in the US and other countries, established a database
of over 600 indicators, compiled urban sustainability metrics case studies, and
produced white papers.
o Working with Professor Guizhen He from the Chinese Academy of Sciences on
issues of public participation in major infrastructure projects, specifically the
High Speed Rail in China.
o Designed a local environmental accounting system for the Chinese city of
Jiyuan, with Professor Satyajit Bose.

o Co-­‐PI; submitted a grant proposal to the President Global Innovation Fund,
Columbia University to fund Urban Sustainability Metrics and Rating System.
o PI; submitted a grant proposal to the China Urban Initiative to fund the
Development of a Simplified City-­‐Level Emissions Accounting System for Jiyuan,
China
o Co-­‐PI; submitted a grant proposal to NSF to fund the Developing a
Parsimonious Set of Indicators for Sustainability Measurement and Reporting.
o Co-­‐PI; submitted a grant proposal to NSF and the Natural Science Foundation
of China (NSFC) to fund the development of Parsimonious Metrics for
Sustainable Manufacturing in China, a collaborative research with the Chinese
Academy of Environmental Planning and the China Center on International
Economic Exchanges.
